About The Author

Darpan Dean & Gaurav Kashyap

Bartending is now coming up as a popular career option. It is considered to be quite unconventional and yet one of the most interesting careers in the food and beverage industry which in turn is a very important part of the hospitality industry. It is quite an interesting career option for those who want to have an exciting, people-facing career, bartending would be a correct choice. There are various types of bar, known by different names but all used to serve alcoholic drinks. The possible range is almost endless. There may be bars serving alcohol in a hotel’s garden, by the pool (even in the pool!), in a room full of poker machines, in a corporate box at some sporting event, or in a licensed café and so on. Mixology, here are a few years that we hear this term with an anglophone sounding but still remaining well often unrecognized. Cocktails are mixed drinks that have become popular since the first quarter of the 20th century and all bars offer a list of selected cocktails. However, people have been drinking mixed drinks since the inception; no one could really establish the origin of the term ‘Cocktail’. It is claimed that the first recipe for a cocktail was lemon juice and powdered mixers, appreciated by Emperor Commodus in the second century AD. More and more used, seen out at parties, within receptions or in bars and other hot clubs. It must be said that this term sounds really good. We could simply define mixology as the art of mixing, and therefore to use and mix various ingredients with the objective of creating and carrying out cocktails brimming with originality and ingenuity. This book will transform the most ignorant imbiber into a sauce-slinger extraordinaire, ready to go out and bartend recreationally or professionally.
